2015 Spring Farm Tour

The South Carolina Agricultural Council is holding its Spring Agricultural Tour on Friday, April 24, 2015.

The daylong event will start with a tour of Satterwhite Dairy Farm in Newberry, SC before moving on to Carolina Pride Pastures (http://www.cppastures.com/ ), an Alpaca Farm in Pomaria, SC.  After eating lunch at Carolina Pride Pastures, the tour will continue at Lever Strawberry Farms (http://www.leverfarms.com/ ) in Pomaria, SC.  The final stop on the tour will be at Carter & Holmes Orchids (http://carterandholmes.com/index.shtml ) in Newberry, SC.

Participant check-in will be at 7:15 a.m. at the South Carolina Farm Bureau, 724 Knox Abbott Drive, Cayce, S.C. The bus will depart at 7:30 a.m. and return to the Farm Bureau building by 4:30 p.m.  Tour participants are asked to park behind the Farm Bureau Building in the parking lot across the street.

Due to bus seating, the tour will be limited to 47 people, so PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. The deadline to register is Tuesday, April 21, 2015. The tour is open to the public until the bus seating is filled, with priority given to Council members and their guests.

Cost of the tour is $45 which includes lunch, beverages, and snacks.

Spring Ag Tour – April 24, 2012

The South Carolina Agricultural Council is holding its Spring Agricultural Tour on Tuesday, April 24, 2012.

The daylong event will start with a tour of the John Deere Plant near Grovetown, GA in the morning followed by a tour of Titan Farms (vegetables and peaches) near Ridge Spring, SC in the afternoon. Lunch will be provided at Juniper Restaurant in Ridge Spring.  Tour participants for the John Deere Plant must be at least 13 years old and also must wear closed-toe and closed-heel shoes during the tour.  No cameras, camcorders or cell phones are permitted while touring the John Deere Plant.

Participant check-in will be at 7:45 a.m. at the South Carolina Farm Bureau, 724 Knox Abbott Drive, Cayce, S.C. The bus will depart at 8:15 a.m. and return to the Farm Bureau building by 5:00 p.m. Tour participants are asked to park behind theFarmBureauBuildingin the parking lot across the street.

Due to bus seating, the tour will be limited to 47 people, soPRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. The deadline to register is Friday, April 20, 2012. The tour is open to the public until the bus seating is filled, with priority given to Council members and their guests.

Cost of the tour is $35 for S.C. Agricultural Council members and their guests and $45 for non-members.  Lunch, beverages, and snacks are included in the cost of the tour.

South Carolina Ag Council Spring Ag Tour

The South Carolina Agricultural Council is holding its Spring Agricultural Tour on Thursday, May 19, 2011.

The daylong tour of Aiken County will begin with a visit to the Aiken County Museum to learn about the area’s history of agriculture.  Following lunch in the museum, participants will be treated to a Trolley Tour of Aiken, a visit to Dogwood Stables, a popular training ground for Thoroughbred horses, the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame, and Hopeland Gardens. Surrounded by a serpentine brick wall as well as ancient oaks and magnolias, Hopeland Gardens is 14-acres of camellias, azaleas, and other Southern horticultural favorites featuring a brick path over a goldfish pool that leads to a balcony overlooking the lower part of the park.

Participant check-in will be at 8:00 a.m. at the South Carolina Farm Bureau, 724 Knox Abbott Drive, Cayce, S.C. The bus will depart at 8:30 a.m. and return to the Farm Bureau building by 5:00 p.m.  Parking for the tour participants will be behind the Farm Bureau Building in the parking lot across the street.

SC Ag Council Offers Fall Ag Tour

The South Carolina Agricultural Council is holding its Fall Agricultural Tour on Thursday, September 30, 2010.

The daylong tour in York and Chester Counties will include visits to Historic Brattonsville (with a guided tour), Stephenson Dairy Farm (one of the largest dairies in South Carolina), and Cotton Hill Farms (agri-tourism row crop farm with a Certified Roadside Market).  Lunch will be provided as part of the guided tour at Historic Brattonsville. 

Participant check-in will be at 7:30 a.m. at the South Carolina Farm Bureau, 724 Knox Abbott Drive, Cayce, S.C. The bus will depart at 8:00 a.m. and return to the Farm Bureau building by 5:00 p.m.  Parking for the tour participants will be behind the Farm Bureau Building in the parking lot across the street.

Due to bus seating, the tour will be limited to 47 people, so PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. The deadline to register is Tuesday, September 28, 2010. The tour is open to the public until the bus seating is filled, with priority given to Council members and their guests.

Cost of the tour is $35 for members of the S.C. Agricultural Council and $45 for non-members which includes bus, transportation, entry fee to Historic Brattonsville, lunch, beverages, and snacks.

The South Carolina Agricultural Council (SCAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, expansion, improvement and enhancement of South Carolina agriculture and forestry and evoking a better understanding and support from the citizens of our state.  The SCAC hosts quarterly meetings throughout the year which provide important information of interest to members regarding agriculture and forestry in the state. The Council also offers tour and other programs to increase the visibility of South Carolina agribusiness.

SCAC Offers Spring Ag Tour

The South Carolina Agricultural Council is holding its Spring Agricultural Tour on Wednesday, April 21, 2010.

The daylong tour of Saluda County will include visits to Watsonia Farms (vegetables and peaches), Amick Farms (poultry feed mill and storage), The Nut House (pecans), Yon Family Farms (Angus cattle), and Hickory Hill Farm (dairy with on farm processing). Lunch will be provided at Juniper Restaurant in Ridge Spring. 

Participant check-in will be at 8:00 a.m. at the South Carolina Farm Bureau, 724 Knox Abbott Drive, Cayce, S.C. The bus will depart at 8:30 a.m. and return to the Farm Bureau building by 5:00 p.m. Parking for the tour participants will be behind the Farm Bureau Building in the parking lot across the street.

SCAC Fall Tour – Oct. 7, 2009

The South Carolina Agricultural Council is holding its fall agricultural tour on Wednesday, October 7, 2009. The daylong event will include a tour of Goldleaf Seed Co. (www.goldleafseed.com), and Pine Land Co. (www.deltaandpine.com), a subsidiary of Monsanto, Coker Farms National Historic Landmark(www.discoversouthcarolina.com/products/25739.aspx), and Kalmia Gardens of Coker College (www.coker.edu/kalmia) all located in Hartsville, SC. 

Participants will begin signing in at 7:45 a.m. at the South Carolina Farm Bureau, 724 Knox Abbott Drive, Cayce, SC.  The bus will depart at 8:15 a.m. and return to the Farm Bureau building by 5:00 p.m.  Parking for the tour participants will be behind the Farm Bureau Building in the parking lot across the street.
