2009 Farm City Award Winners

Each year the SCAC sponsors awards to recognize farm-city week activities. Counties are asked to submit applications and scrapbooks detailing their activities. A three person panel evaluates the submissions and selects winners in three categories: Best Youth Event, Best Individual Event, and Best Overall County.

In addition the National Farm City Council recognizes two outstanding nominees from the state with a national certificate. The Ag Council recognizes additional participates for their notable accomplishments with state certificates.

Farm-City award recipients are recognized for:

  • Program activities that support the mission of Farm-City
  • Program leadership that tells the story of agriculture to the urban public
  • Active communications in telling the story of rural-urban interdependence in our food and fiber system
  • Program efforts that bring rural and urban people closer together and foster a greater understanding among them.

Best Youth Event

  • Beaufort County Farm City Week Committee

Best Individual Event

  • Cherokee County Farm City Week Committee

Best Overall County

  • Lexington County Farm City Week Committee
