SCAC Fall Tour – Oct. 7, 2009

The South Carolina Agricultural Council is holding its fall agricultural tour on Wednesday, October 7, 2009. The daylong event will include a tour of Goldleaf Seed Co. (, and Pine Land Co. (, a subsidiary of Monsanto, Coker Farms National Historic Landmark(, and Kalmia Gardens of Coker College ( all located in Hartsville, SC. 

Participants will begin signing in at 7:45 a.m. at the South Carolina Farm Bureau, 724 Knox Abbott Drive, Cayce, SC.  The bus will depart at 8:15 a.m. and return to the Farm Bureau building by 5:00 p.m.  Parking for the tour participants will be behind the Farm Bureau Building in the parking lot across the street.


7:45 AM          Check in at Farm Bureau   

8:15 AM          Leave Farm Bureau

9:45 AM          Arrive at Goldleaf Seed Co.

10:45 AM        Leave Goldleaf Seed Co.

11:00 AM        Arrive at Delta and Pine Land Co.

12:15 PM         Leave Delta and Pine Land Co.

12:30 PM         Arrive at Coker Farms

1:15 PM           Lunch at Pam’s Restaurant

2:15 PM           Kalmia Gardens of Coker College

3:30 PM           Leave Kalmia Gardens

5:00 PM           Return to Farm Bureau

Due to bus seating, the tour will be limited to 47 people, so PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. The deadline to register is Friday, October 2, 2009. The tour is open to the public until the bus seating is filled with priority given to Council members and their guests.

Cost of the tour is $30 for members of the SC Agricultural Council and $40 for non-members which includes lunch, beverages, and snacks.  To reserve a space on the tour, send your name, phone number along with a check made payable to the South Carolina Agriculture Council and mail to: South Carolina Agriculture Council, PO Box 2683, Columbia, SC 29202.
